Participants from the Philippines and Indonesia joined IPM-CRSP resource persons from Clemson University and collaborators from AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center to discuss new initiatives, share experiences and plan for the next year of the 3rd Phase of IPM CRSP for Southeast Asia. The Regional Director for ARC in Thailand shared with the participants some insights into the use of protein baiting to manage fruit flies that damage fleshy vegetables in the region. ARC will work with the IPM-CRSP in the region to develop viable and sustainable fruit fly management in vegetable ecosystems. Dr. Greg Luther also shared with the participants the advances made by AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center; in particular our work on vegetable grafting using resistant root stocks. The workshop discussed the role of ARC in linking IPM-CRSP to the network of agencies involved in safe and healthy vegetable production in Southeast Asia and linking with markets in the region.
